Primavera 1 2026/27 | Verona set to resume their campaign against Lecce
Verona – Hellas Verona resume their Primavera 1 campaign at the 'Olivieri' training ground.
Three weeks after their last competitive fixture, Verona are ready to return to league action against Lecce. The aim is to build on the two consecutive positive results recorded in September: a 2-0 win over Milan and a 2-2 draw away to Torino.
In their last competitive fixture, Massimo Pavanel's side responded with determination and character after falling two goals behind against Torino, rescuing a draw in the closing stages thanks to goals from Akale and Zanin. Verona currently sit seventh in the league standings on seven points, having recorded two wins, one draw and two defeats.
During the break, the Gialloblù recorded two friendly wins against Mantova and Cremonese, both of whom compete in Primavera 2. The first match ended in a 2-0 victory, with Buniotto and Intrabartolo scoring late in the first half. In the second, Verona won 3-2 away to Cremonese, thanks to goals from Buniotto, De Rossi and Contarini.
The opposition for Matchday 6 is Lecce, with kick-off scheduled for Sunday 11 October at 10.45AM at the 'Olivieri' training ground on Via Sogare.
The side coached by Simone Schipa sit 14th in the standings and are still searching for their first win of the season. The Salentini have collected four points so far, having recorded four consecutive draws between Matchdays 2 and 5. Their most recent fixture ended in a 1-1 draw against Fiorentina, whom Verona had previously beaten. Lecce arrive at the 'Olivieri' aiming to get off the mark and secure their first victory of the 2026/27 season.
Head Coach Pavanel had the following to say ahead of the fixture: “The league season resumes after the break, and whenever you are out of action for a while, there is always an element of uncertainty. We have tried to maintain our match rhythm and mental sharpness through two friendlies. There were some aspects of our performances that we did well, while others still need improvement. We have a demanding match ahead of us. Lecce have several players born in 2007 and were Italian champions a few years ago. They have an established style of play and carry out targeted scouting abroad. In the matches they have played so far, they have almost always been dominant, and perhaps they have collected fewer points than they deserved. I expect a difficult match in which we will have to be very careful. We know that if we do the things we know how to do well, we can make life difficult for any opponent, and that is what we will try to do on Sunday as well.”
The referee for the match will be Mansour Faye (Brescia AIA Section), with Badreddine Mamouni (Tolmezzo AIA Section) and Roberto De Stefanis (Udine AIA Section) as Assistant Referees.
