From Hellas Verona to Makeni: the Gialloblù shirts worn in Sierra Leone by SBD
Verona - The Gialloblù colours have reached Makeni, in the heart of Sierra Leone, thanks to the donation by Hellas Verona of several official match kits for the boys and girls of SBD Social Business Development - Lion Poultry, an organisation that has been committed to the country’s economic and social development for around ten years through agriculture and, in particular, the poultry value chain.
Founded on the initiative of the Zanchi family, SBD now involves more than 100 people and operates across the poultry value chain, with the aim of promoting employment, skills, local production and food security in Sierra Leone. Through its Out-grower Model, it supports small-scale farmers by providing them with animals, feed and technical assistance, helping them manage their activities and thereby contributing to the creation of jobs, income and local food production.
“SBD is a charitable company and a social business,” explained Andrea Ricci, General Manager of SBD. “Any value that is generated is reinvested in the business, the community or social initiatives that benefit the country. For us, receiving the shirts was not simply about receiving football kits: we felt it as a gesture of closeness to our project and to the people who are part of it every day. We would like to thank Hellas Verona once again for bringing a touch of its colours all the way to Makeni. Here, they were worn with pride, enthusiasm and, above all, with a big smile.”
