San Bernardino Soup Kitchen
The Convent’s soup kitchen of the Minor Friars of San Bernardino is a place of welcome and hospitality for anyone in need of a hot meal or shower facilities.
The soup kitchen serves lunch every day to around 100 people, who can sit down to eat in a peaceful atmosphere. Lunch is served at 11 a.m., but the soup kitchen opens its doors at 9 a.m., welcoming guests and offering them the opportunity to use the toilets and laundry facilities. In addition, the soup kitchen offers a shower service on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., to ensure hygiene and well-being for anyone in need of shelter. Every week, a change of underwear is also distributed, along with towels and soap, to offer dignified and attentive care to anyone in need.
Inspired by the example of St. Francis, who welcomed and became a brother to all, the Friars of the Convent of San Bernardino are committed to creating an environment of mutual respect and familiarity, where everyone can feel welcome without distinction. Thanks to the friars and the group of volunteers, who take turns serving meals and cleaning the facilities, the environment is kept pleasant and tidy.
The soup kitchen is therefore not just a place where food is provided, but a real community that shares the values of brotherhood and service to others.
