Diocesan Caritas of Verona

The Diocesan Caritas of Verona is the organization of the Church of Verona dedicated to promoting charity and solidarity in a concrete way, involving the entire community. It does not simply help those in need, but seeks to foster a culture of care for others, so that every person may feel welcomed and valued.

 

It was created to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable – those who have lost their home or job, who experience material poverty or loneliness – but also to educate parishes and citizens about solidarity, social justice, and peace. The goal is not just to provide assistance, but to build relationships, restore dignity to those who have lost it, and create a network of human and spiritual support.

 

Caritas carries out a wide range of activities: providing shelter for homeless people, managing canteens and dormitories, supporting families in difficulty, assisting migrants and asylum seekers, and developing projects for the elderly who live alone or for young people seeking direction. Through the cooperative Il Samaritano, Caritas manages various listening, support, and volunteer services, guided by the belief that every gesture, even a small one, can help rebuild a life.

 

Alongside practical aid, Caritas is also committed to education, promoting training programs for schools, groups, and volunteers, and raising awareness throughout the local area, so that solidarity may become a shared and lived value for everyone.
