AIDO – Verona Section
AIDO, the Italian Association for the Donation of Organs, Tissues, and Cells, was founded in Bergamo in 1973 and has its legal headquarters in Rome. It is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious, and interethnic organization made up of citizens who support post-mortem donation of organs, tissues, and cells. All of its activities are based on volunteer work and the principle of social solidarity.
The main mission of AIDO is expressed through three key objectives. The first is to promote a culture of organ, tissue, and cell donation. The second is to spread awareness of healthy lifestyles that can help prevent diseases which might require a transplant as treatment. The third goal is to collect and record declarations of consent for post-mortem donation, ensuring that each citizen’s choice is respected and valued.
Today, the association counts over one million members and continues to pursue a goal as simple as it is ambitious: reducing the number of people on transplant waiting lists by promoting a culture of life, responsibility, and altruism.
